Class Description

Take your bob haircutting skills beyond the basics by learning advanced techniques that create precision, movement, and customization. This class will explore how head shape, elevation, weight distribution, and texture influence the finished result, giving you the confidence to design a bob that's tailored to every guest.

Three Teaching Points

1. Build the Foundation

● Learn how head shape, perimeter design, and body position create the framework for a successful bob.

● Understand how precision in your sectioning and cutting creates consistency behind the chair.

2. Customize the Shape

● Explore different bob variations, including blunt, graduated, textured, and soft bobs.
● Learn how to adjust elevation, overdirection, and weight removal based on your guest's hair density, texture, and desired finish.

3. Refine the Finish

● Master techniques for cross-checking, detailing, and personalizing your haircut.

● Learn styling methods that showcase the haircut and help guests recreate the look at home.

Tools needed

  • Medium-length mannequin suitable for haircutting

  • Shears

  • Blending/Texturizing shears (optional)

  • Razor (optional)

  • Cutting comb

  • Sectioning clips

  • Spray bottle

  • Blow dryer

  • Round brush and/or paddle brush

  • Mannequin stand

  • Tripod (optional for content capture)

Learning Outcome

By the end of class, attendees will be able to:

● Execute a balanced, precision bob with confidence.

● Customize bob haircuts for different face shapes, hair textures, and lifestyles.

● Understand how elevation, overdirection, and weight distribution affect the final shape.

● Refine and finish a bob with clean detailing and professional styling techniques.

● Deliver a polished, modern bob that grows out beautifully.
